Perfectly put

Once in a while, just once in a long while you come across a blog post so to the point, so well written, that it stops you in your tracks and you hear yourself thinking, almost aloud: “They’re talking about me!”

I had that experience with Stephen P. Anderson’s “What is User Experience?”. It says everything, and it says it well.

Now, I’m not a User Experience Designer, as Stephen is. I am an auditor. But just read the following quote:

“At the end of the day, there are those people who will go quietly about their jobs, perhaps grumbling about not having a “seat at the table.” These people may have also been taught the right way to do things. Then, there are others who–regardless of their titles or position–will stand up and say, “Wait a minute, why are we doing it this way?””

Yep, that last sentence, right there, is why I became an internal auditor. I could go on to quote the entire wonderful post. I won’t. Go and read it. Now. You won’t regret it, in whatever business you are. Because this is about us.
